5 Minutes or Less.

It's the little things. The things that hang over your head, that make it from one to-do list to the other, that then sit on the front of your phone screen as a reminder to the point that you just think of it as your lock screen picture now.

That's why I'm suggesting you adopt the mindset that if it can be done in 5 minutes or less, do it as soon as you think of it. A pile of clothes that need to be put away, adding something to your bag, depositing a check, taking a pill, ordering something online, sending an email, paying a credit card bill. Those are just some examples of all the tasks that exist that can be done to completion in a short amount of time and are too important to continuously put off.

Take for example, making a doctors appointment. You know you have to make one (maybe four at this point), but you just keeping putting it off. Why? What's holding you up? How long does the call ACTUALLY take? You dial a number, the receptionist answers, they ask for a date, you give them one, they give you three others, you pick one, you pick a time, you say thanks, you hang up. You add it to your calendar and you feel accomplished, no? It tastes more time for you to keep pushing it off than it does for you to just get it done when you think of it the first time.

It drives me crazy when I ask someone (my mom) to do something- for example - "venmo me that money you owe me" and then they (my mom) responds "ok I'll do it later" even though at time the question was asked they (my mom) were not doing anything to prohibit the sending of the money. You know what happens later? You forget! So why not just do it when you remember?

The best feeling is when you wake up and remember how much less you have to do today because you took the time to do it yesterday.

So now I challenge you to do one thing a day you have been meaning to do for a while. Because I promise, it doesn't take that long. It's the little things.
